Rumi works in many mediums, responding to outer and inner situations. Her practice at Shared Space was dependent on what she found during a walk in the woods or on the beach. She made sun prints on construction paper of found objects, reproduced them in paintings, and arranged a growing collection of her findings in an installation on our wall. She discovered chips distributed by a local restaurant, La Fiesta, and declared that they are the best chips in the world. She utilized shared materials in the studio each day, and uncovering of a pile of craft felt lead her to make a flag celebrating these amazing chips. Rumi decided that her community engagement project would be picking up trash from the beach at sunset, and added her bag of collected trash to her installation.
