Terri Loewenthal is a self-taught photographer and musician, her portraits and landscapes straddle the line between documentary and fantasy. On her first night at Shared Space, Terri was introduced to the nightly ritual of going to the beach on Lake Michigan for sunset and eating an ice cream cone. For the rest of her stay, she was at the beach every night with her Roloflex camera, asking cone-licking beach-goers if she could take their portrait with their ice cream in the golden hour. She also instigated a trip to sleeping bear dunes where she and the other residents shot frolicking nudes in the sand, and she documented an epic pontoon cruise. Terri contributed her recipe for “yummy beans” to our zine library in the hopes of starting a Shared Space cookbook.
